Safety First written on rural road

According to a memo from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the official maximum penalty amounts for citations in 2020 will increase slightly.

The Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990 was just recently evoked once again as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration raises its penalty rates.

The last time OSHA raised its penalty fines was in 2016 to account. Doing so accounts for inflation.

Please be aware the penalties are now as follows:

  • Serious, and Other-Than-Serious Violations - $13,494 per violation;
  • Willful or Repeated Violations - $134,937 per violation;
  • Posting Requirements - $13,494 per day unabated beyond the abatement date.

Good safety practices are good for business! If you have any questions about how this may apply to your business, or need help with any risk management or insurance issues, please feel free to reach out.
